Iinii Insights |

February’s full moon is the Eagle Moon Piitaiki’soom. The beginning of February also marks the mid-way point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. During this time the eagles are returning and beginning their mating season and building nests. Last year during this time we could even see Eagles flying over our school, all of these are spiritual signs to remind us that we are connected to something larger than ourselves, that we are on the path for new beginnings and ready for new challenges. This all aligns with the upcoming renewal that spring brings. As you spend time with the land, remember to look up and watch for signs in the sky. These signs helped the Blackfoot and Cree Nations name this time of year the Eagle Moon.

 Classroom Connection|

The Calgary Flames Classroom Crew is a grassroots sports initiative for southern Alberta schools brought you by the Calgary Flames Foundation. The Calgary Flames Classroom Crew provides a group of three to four trained instructors that visit schools, primarily in Calgary, to teach and play floor hockey and flag football to students in a physical education setting over a three or four-day period. At Niitsitapi Learning Centre, our schedule will include floor hockey on February 2 and 3, and flag football on February 4 and 5, including a player visit from some Calgary Stampeders.

The primary goal is to foster a love for sports, physical activity and a healthy lifestyle. The Calgary Flames Classroom Crew provides equipment for each class and uses an easy-to-follow structured plan to make sure each student is learning the sport in a safe, fun and inclusive environment. https://calgaryflamesfoundation.com/cgy-classroom-crew/

Kitsikakomimm Day- Valentine’s Day

As Valentine’s Day approaches, we want to ensure everyone is on the same page regarding our class celebration. At Niitsitapi Learning Centre, we believe in spreading kindness, connection, and joy — and Valentine’s Day is a wonderful opportunity to do just that.

Hands, Mitts, Gratitude, Winter, Snow, Mittens, Valentine, Valentines, Heart Hands, Snow Heart, FebruaryIf you would like to contribute, you are welcome to send Valentine’s cards for your child to share with classmates on February 11. We encourage children to sign their own names at home before bringing the cards to school, so everyone feels included and part of the celebration. If you’re able, please feel free to send a few extra cards to help spread the joy even further.

Please know there is no obligation to participate every child’s presence, kindness, and enthusiasm are what truly make our class special. Your child’s joy and sense of belonging are the greatest gifts of all.  (Classes are around 21-24 students per class)

No Toy Policy

Toys, Toy MountainThis is a friendly reminder that toys from home should remain at home and not be brought to school.

Personal toys can become distracting during learning time and may also be lost or cause conflict between students. To help us maintain a focused and safe learning environment for all, we ask that children do not bring toys to school unless specifically requested by their teacher for a planned activity. Any toys brought to school will be collected by staff and returned at the end of the day.

We have seen a hg improvement this past week! Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
