Iinii Insights|

With Earth Day approaching it is a reminder to renew our connections to Na’a, and the natural law that all of life has a spirit, and that we are all interconnected as relatives.

KAKYOSIN According to Betty Bastien's book, "Blackfoot Ways of Knowing: The Worldview of The Siksikaitsitapi," the Blackfoot value of Kakyosin (gah-gee-OH-sin) is based on one's ability to acquire knowledge and truth that is reliant on their observation skills. By practicing the value of Kakyosin, teachers and students can gain a deeper and more diverse understanding of the interconnectedness of nature. Students can be encouraged to take notice of the colors and textures of plants and trees, the shapes and patterns of rocks and landscapes, and the sounds of birds and animals in the area while they are outside on the land.
